Jazz Palma

Design a jazz festival that invites the spectator to also take part

For this second year of Jazz Palma, we worked on the idea of non-abstract abstraction. In other words, we cropped a series of instruments to such an extent that we reached the limits of how much they could be understood. In this visual game played with spectators, sometimes they could see the instrument in question and sometimes they couldn’t. In one sense, expressing the blending of sounds and instruments that can characterize jazz. We accompanied this with an arresting visual style that aimed to express the power and passion in jazz while also using a contemporary feeling colour system that was reminiscent of jazz club lighting and moods.
