Terreno Barrio Hotel Signage

A signage system
designed to belong

If Terreno is a hotel that feels like a barrio, its signage should feel the same. With a mindset focused less on designing conventional hotel signage and more on creating a natural extension of the neighbourhood, we drew inspiration from the streets of El Terreno and its history: painted signs, neon, lightboxes and other familiar urban typologies.

These references come together in an eclectic but thoughtfully designed system. As plural as the hotel’s brand identity, different shapes, materials, colours, proportions and techniques coexist throughout the spaces. At the same time, clarity and consistency ensure that every sign is easy to read and effective in guiding guests through the hotel.

Respectful of the past and relevant to the present, the result is a signage system that bridges the visual memory of the neighbourhood with the contemporary architecture of the hotel.

A stroll through the barrio

Rather than a single, uniform signage system, Terreno is made up of a collection of signs, each with its own character. Neon, painted lettering, lightboxes, numbers and directional signs create a rich and diverse visual landscape, making moving through the hotel feel like taking a walk through the streets of El Terreno.

The box as a flexible building block

The box is one of the key elements of the interior signage system, designed to adapt to different spaces and needs. Its proportions, colours and finishes change according to its surroundings and the information it needs to communicate, creating variations that feel specific to each space while remaining part of the same language.
