Terreno Barrio Hotel
An identity as open and plural as the barrio it comes from

Hotel Director, Terreno Barrio HotelTerreno was born as a Neighborhood Hotel: two buildings conversing with each other across an alleyway, creating an urban, open experience deeply connected with its surroundings. But what brings me the most pride is feeling that we have kept our promise—for the neighborhood to be a part of us, and us a part of the neighborhood. Today, locals walk in, participate, converse, and truly make the hotel their own. When that happens, you know you’ve built something more than just a hotel.

Jaime Oliver
Architect of Terreno Barrio Hotel / Director of OHLABFrom the outset, the project was conceived around a clear urban principle: to give more back to the neighbourhood than it takes from it. One of its main architectural gestures is the creation of a new passage through the site, transforming part of the hotel’s private plot into a public space that reconnects El Terreno with the sea. A series of shared programmes open onto this passage, encouraging natural encounters between guests and local residents. This urban openness is complemented by a responsible material strategy based on local, low-impact and reclaimed materials.
